Makin’ Hay is the first album I made after moving to Nashville and really, it’s more of a compilation of demos than it is an “album”. The bulk of the songs on this album were inspired by my upbringing. I wrote the title track after a phone call with my grandmother that seemed to put life into perspective; growing up in the rodeo world inspired “Another Ride” and “Get Back In The Saddle”; then there are several tear jerkers on the album that came about from stories and circumstances that many of my close friends have lived through. This album is real life, and several of the tunes from this project are still regulars on my set list!
